Optical Reagent

Cargille develops and manufactures optical liquids calibrated for refractive indices for use throughout the many laboratory disciplines involving microscopy and optics.

Cargille has also consistently led in the development and standardization of immersion oils for over 50 years. Cargille Immersion Oils meet or exceed the ISO 8036-1 Standard.

Other major products which Cargille concentrates on include highly stable Laser Liquids, mounting medias, optical gels, fused silica matching liquids, comminuted optical glass & mineralogical reference standards.

IMMERSION OILS

REFRACTIVE INDEX LIQUIDS

All Refractive Index Liquid Sets are sold in 1/4 fl. oz bottles (7cc) with applicator caps. Sets are packed in partitioned boxes for convenient access and storage. Temperature coefficients and dispersion values (nC, nF, nF-nC, Abbe vD) are included on each index liquid label.

All Refractive Index Liquids are standardized at 589.3 nanometers (D line) and 25°C.

CALIBRATION LIQUIDS

MOUNTING MEDIA

CUSTOM MADE REFRACTIVE INDEX LIQUIDS

Immersion Liquid formulations are custom blended at 589.3 nm and 25°C to an accuracy of ±0.0005 in the range of nD 1.293 – 1.700.

Laser Liquids formulations are custom blended at 589.3 nm and 25°C to an accuracy of ±0.0002 in the range of nD 1.2930 – 1.6300.

Deviations from the standard specifications are available for changes in wavelength, temperature and accuracy at an additional cost.

MATCHING LIQUIDS

Specialized Optical Coupling (index matching) Liquids that closely match the refractive index of common materials (Fused Silica, BK 7 and Water) at given wavelengths. Please contact our technical department for optical coupling of additional materials.

OPTICAL GELS

Optical coupling gel primarily used to match the refractive index of fused Silica and BK-7 glass but can be utilized for other glasses.

Optical Gel Codes 0607 and 0608 are optically and chemically nearly identical, and both are used for coupling optical fibers and other optical components, and for mode stripping. Optical Gel Code 0607 is a thinner gel than 0608 and, upon standing, the surface of 0607 will normally appear to be fluid. Code 0608 appears to be much less fluid.
